My 2021 Year-End Summary

This year has been a year with many things happening, and it has been a special year for me as well.

🍭Open Source#

Originally, I planned to participate in an open source project development this year, and I did start it. But later, due to lack of time and my own laziness, I didn't complete my tasks and gradually drifted away from the team (I feel a bit sorry for the team). However, fortunately, I gained a little bit.

In my own small project, I completed "Seaweed and Broccoli" at the beginning of the year, and then I worked on renovating my own blog and an unfinished Chrome extension called PotatoSign (I always felt unsatisfied with my functionality halfway through, so I kept rewriting it).

🍩Learning English#

Because the first half of the year was busy with changing cities and jobs, this plan didn't really start until the second half of the year.

📏Notion#

I actually planned to start using Notion last year, but unfortunately, I didn't really start using it until the second half of this year. Currently, I mainly use it for work and to record some things in my life. I am now familiar with most of its features and formatting, and I can't live without it in my daily life.

Next year, I should start using quantified tables to better plan and reflect on myself.

🏃Running#

Compared to last year, it's not something I can bear to look at... (This year has had many things happening and some strange things)

But next year, my life should be much more stable, and my return to running is just around the corner.

🎬Movies and TV Shows#

I feel like there are fewer and fewer good anime series in recent years.

Anime

  • The King's Ranking: The Best
  • The Annoying Senpai: Season 2
  • Attack on Titan: The Final Season (First Half)
  • Wonder Egg Priority
  • Hello World
  • The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat
  • ReLife
  • I Shaved. Then I Brought a High School Girl Home.
  • Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World
  • The Case Study of Vanitas

As for TV shows, I rewatched the unfinished "Shuang Shu" series and watched three love-themed dramas.

TV Shows

  • The 9th Precinct: Season 1
  • Shuang Shu: Season 1
  • Shuang Shu: Season 2
  • Shuang Shu: Season 3
  • Before Sunrise
  • Before Sunset
  • Before Midnight

Miscellaneous#

I originally wanted to go to the comic convention, but I didn't end up going. I must make up for it next year.

📕 I planned to read books this year, but I failed in the end. Compared to last year, I didn't read anything. (I hope I can pick it up again next year)

I came across some beautiful sentences this year:

Freedom is light and thin, like a feather. Time is like the wind, blowing it away. At first, that feeling is beautiful and good, but after a while, you will feel dizzy and uneasy. If everyone is striving to grow, I don't want to stay at home and become a lazy bug.
Freedom is expensive and heavy. If you want to pursue the life you want, and if the life you want is freedom, then you must exert more effort than ordinary people. Freedom is not about abandoning everything and playing around, that is a privilege of childhood. Freedom is shouldering the responsibilities you should bear, daring to give up ready-made benefits, daring to pursue dreams, and actually achieving those dreams.
Freedom is not an excuse to escape from reality, but to face yourself and life. Freedom is an ability that requires you to be stronger and gentler than ordinary people. Most people choose a stable life with less freedom, so that they can be more relaxed.
When you feel that freedom is fragile, light, and thin, that kind of freedom can only be called willfulness or indulgence. True freedom is heavy, expensive, and strong. And it lasts. Do you have it? Do you dare to pursue it?

Finally#

I remember seeing Diygod's summary before, and he said something like this:

To do something well or cultivate a habit, the key is to find a strong enough driving force that comes from within yourself, and don't forget it.

This has inspired and influenced me a lot this year, and I will continue to work hard next year.
